Mrs. Wilson

Welcome to Mrs. Wilson's 6th grade reading class!  I am looking forward to a wonderful journey this school year.  We will begin the year with reviewing genres of literature, reviewing and introducing reading strategies and beginning to work with our new Pearson Common Core Literature book.  Then, later this Fall we will read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in October and in late November we will begin our Charles Dickens unit with the English class.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow-ISBN 0-439-32984-1. For many parents, it has been a while since reading these stories.  Take a glimpse at the sparknotes website to refresh your memory.  The website can also assist students with the plot, characters, and other features we will cover in class.

A Christmas Carol: We will listen to the story on tape using ISBN 0-671-47369-7, and we will compare this to ISBN: 0-439-10133-6,  ISBN: 13:978-0-486-26865-1, and the kids' favorite graphic novel ISBN: 978-1-906332-51-8.  These three books tell the same timeless classic using different dialog and style. The entire 6th grade hall will be transformed to an 1800's English town. Check out the following link to get a glimpse at the story:)

Whew! It is a good thing we don't have to pack for this journey!  Let's have a wonderful year!
